Ella de Burca

Mar 2012 to Sep 2012
1986 lives and works in Dublin, Ireland.

Ella de Burca (1986) creates situational and performative based work that uses the mediums of memory, time and value to question identity. She is interested in the places where art happens, and how these events play a role towards creating a new language for defining presence. De Burca uses words and drawing to document these events, however the documentation is definitely not the art, rather the physical remains of something that once was. These remains are available to rent.

De Burca’s most recent project was ‘defacto,’ a solo show/residency in Miami with the nomadic art space SPRINGBREAK. SPRINGBREAK walked with De Burca during gallery hours along the same 15 mile circut in Miami, inviting the spectator to join them as they discussed notions of presence, subjectiveism vs objectivism, along with the role of sincerity and documentation in contemporary art.
