Francesc Ruiz

Sep 2012 to Oct 2012
1971 Barcelona

Francesc Ruiz residency in AIR Antwerpen is part of his research project about SUKIA, an Italian erotic comic that was very popular in the 70’s and 80’s and that was, among 5 other places, published in Strombeek. The research wants to bring back to life the comic through a series of 5 new issues, each one centered in each city where SUKIA was published.

Francesc Ruiz makes art in an expanded comic-book format that exploits the radical potential of cheap printed matter – and words and pictures – to forge stories and to survey the construction of gay identity and the contemporary city.
