Ilaria Lupo

Mar 2013 to Jun 2013
1977 Milan, Italy

Lives and works in Beirut, Lebanon.

Ilaria Lupo works with printed matter, installation, public intervention and performance. Her work focusses on installing a dialogue between the personal and the public space. It is an individual search of forms of “escape” from spatial limits and imposed collective models. Deviations, an Atlas of Beirut shows verbal descriptions of itineraries, attempts to describe a location by the inhabitants. A collection that documents the local perception of the urban topography of Beirut. In Linea d’aria (As the crow flies) three loudspeakers are fixed on the roof of a deserted frontier post, broadcasting announcements from Luxembourg’s airport.

Ilaria Lupo was invited for the following exhibitions: Pourquoi moi, Marseille Provence European Capital of Culture, 2013; Exposure 2012, Beirut Art Centre, Beirut, 2012; Deviations, an Atlas of Beirut, artist book published by PlanBey, Beirut, 2012; You Talking to me?, Bik Van Der Pol, 98 Weeks project space, Beirut, 2012; Imagination Helps Art Rid Reality of Its Tricks, Zico House, Beirut, 2011; 3rd Riwaq Bienniale, Bir Zeit, 2009; Issues, Neulicht Gallery, Luxembourg, 2007.
