Mathilde Du Sordet

Oct 2013 to Dec 2013
1979 Lyon, Frankrijk

Mathilde Du Sordet is invited for a residency of three months in AIR Antwerpen, within the framework of the Residence Croisée, developed in collaboration with Artistes en Residence, Clermont-Ferrand. This residency includes three months in Antwerp, from which one month together with Belgian artist Kato Six, and a forth month in Clermont-Ferrand.

Mathilde Du Sordet’s practice exists primarily out of installations. They are combinations of old found objects and newer industrially produced ones, combined and piled on top of each other, without fixing them. These installations are very closely connected with the space they are shown in and are assembled in a unique combination every single time. They are the result of the research, energy and movement of the artist. Mathilde Du Sordet is interest in the little traces and glitches of found material. The combination with new industrially produced material gives a hint of an ever-evolving story.

Mathilde Du Sordet was invited for the following solo exhibitions: Si on relie les points, un cercle, Bikini, Lyon, 2012; Archi Troyenne, Institute of Social Hypocrisy, Paris, 2009; A Collection (Un Ensemble), Module Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2009. Her work was also on view in the following group exhibitions: Rendez-vous 13, Institut d’Art Contemporain, Villeurbane, 2013; Les divisions du Volume, La Permanence, Clermont-Ferrand, 2012; Sommerrundgang, Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, 2010; Au fil de l’oeuvre, La Galerie, Noisy-le-sec, 2010; Aires, La BF15, Lyon.
