Traces AIR Antwerpen

Naneci Yurdagül

Apr 2013 to Jun 2013
1979 Frankfurt am Main

As part of a structural exchange collaboration with Kulturbunker Frankfurt, AIR Antwerpen invited Naneci Yurdagül for a residency of three months in AIR Antwerpen.

In his work Naneci Yurdagül reflects, subtly and ironically, on social, cultural and political situations and their change, which always have traces of his own biography. One focus of his artistic engagement is topics on national and religious identity, migration, social exclusion, cultural appropriation and mistrust. They are constantly picked up and are treated critically, often in relation to current public debates, to intervene in the social discourse. His artistic expression includes almost all media such as performance, film, painting, photography, sculpture and installation, setting specific incentives.

Naneci Yurdagül was invited for the following solo exhibitions: Burquoi, Kunstverein Wiesbaden, 2012; Frei Machen, Night Club Lido, 2012; Männerkunst, Stuttgart, 2010; If we are good, if we are kind … but if we are good, generous and kind, Stiftung Opelvillen, Rüsselheim. His work was also shown  in the following group exhibitions (a selection); New Frankfurt Internationals, Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt am Main, 2011; Übermorgen Künstler, Kunstverein Heidelberg, 2009; The Great Game to Come, Kunstverein, Frankfurt am Main,  2008.
