Rumiko Hagiwara

Oct 2013 to Dec 2013
1979 Tomioka and Amsterdam

Rumiko Hagiwara is invited by AIR Antwerpen for a residency of four months.

The work of Rumiko Hagiwara manifests itself into site-specific installation, photo and video. Her conceptual art practice suggests people different angles of perceptions in daily life. With a sense of humor she twists attention points and value of ordinary phenomena. These minimal interventions do not add, but address and point out memories that usually pass by unnoticed. By making these subtle and tiny adjustments, she intends to return the viewers attention to these seemingly daily situations.

Rumiko Hagiwara was invited for the following solo exhibitions: F901, Temporary, Verona, 2013; Oh my lovely city, CEAC-Chinese European Art Center, Xiamen, 2013; In Praise of Shadow, Jeanine Hofland Contemporary Art, Amsterdam; Almost Nothing, Duplex, Sarajevo, 2010. Her work was also on view in the following group exhibitions: About the House and the Things, Frankendael Foundation, Amsterdam, 2013; Urban Synesthesia, Arki Galeria, Taipei, 2012; Somewhere Else, Nogueras Blanchard, Barcelona, 2011; Cinetactics, meetfactory, 2010; A la Vuelta la Esquina (just around the corner), La Casa Encendida Art Centre, Madrid, 2009.
