The multidisciplinary artist Sandip Shah sets to work as a 'secret observer' for his projects. Unbeknown to his surroundings he is filming. He films the cmings and goings in the Antwerp locks, the movements of the ships on the river, and the city streets. His camera captures everything, uncensored. It is from this material that Shah selects stills, which form the basis for his paintings. He closely examines these images of captured moments that would normally escape our perception and grants these moments an independent, individual identity. In his AIR exhibition Shah presents video-installations, canvasses and countless stills, which evoke images from surveillance videos.
