Billie is a South African artist who is passioned about the excentric aspects of the fashion industry, more specifically by those who disgard the commercial part to focus themselves on pure expression. She worked in different departments of the clothing industry where she, for instance, functioned as brand manager of many Diesel labels. She also had a job as Art Buyer for TWBA Gaven Reddy and is a partner of Afronova. Next to that, she joined several group exhibitions in South Africa, France and New York.

In 2005 she recieved the Gerard Sekoto award because of her sublime tapestries. She represented her country at the Biennals of Dakar in 2006, and had a big soloshow that very year. Via diverse tapestries, the artist embodies citystories (with a lot of references to Johannesburg) and her personal experiences in that context.
