?1976, lives and works in Brussels
AgnĖs Geoffrrayķs world is imbued with fears that resemble us, that seem strangely familiar. It is a world of latency, in which the before and after have preference over the act as such, and thus delegate the image of an invented horror. Her works show no exaggerated violence. Here there is no violence except avoidance makes it so. The photographs, the texts do something else: they haunt us.
Judicial, journalistic or medical photographs were the basis for the nature of the work, which is the reason for her continuous fascination with the notion of the photographic object, which allows her to formally navigate and play with all of photographyķs fineries.
AgnĖs Geofrray lays claim to plagiarism and recycling as a priviliged working method. She pirates, misappropriates and monopolises the everyday images that surround us. She recycles her own images and texts. Thus one and the same picture or text becomes endlessly adaptable.
She already showed her work in Brussels (La Lettre VolČe), Amsterdam (Rijksacademie, Willem van Zoetendaal Gallery), Bangkok (Movie shorts festival), Lyon (MusČe d'Art Contemporain) and Jakarta (OK Video Festival).
