Christine Meisner tends to work with video, drawings and text. Preceded by intense investigations, she realised a variety of projects to approach 'reality' from different angles, searching for a Ñtruthì, determined by historic structures and the distortion of mass media. In her works, she tries to underline unfinished cultural processes. Therefor she focuses on details from stories (and its protagonists) handling the space between Ñleaving behind and arrivingî.
Christine concentrates on colonial and postcolonial changes in African countries. Recently, she worked on the extensive project called "What Becameî about the transatlantic slave trade between West-Africa and Brazil. This project was shown in Musee des Beaux Arts Nantes/France (2005), the Pinacoteca of Sao Paulo and the Museum of Modern Art Recife/Brasil. For her investigations and travels, she cooperates with institutions like the worldwide Goethe-institutes, embassies of the involved countries and international museums.
