lives and works in LA
Jim Skuldt received an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 2005.
The following year he recuperated the 16-meter-diameter rotating touring stage formerly belonging to Neil Diamond and arranged for passage aboard a trans-Atlantic containership to attend the Triangle France Residency in Marseille.
He is the recent recipient of the California Community Foundation Emerging Artists Fellowship, the Durfee Foundation ARC Grant, and the Center for Cultural Innovation Investing In Artists Grant and is part of the Skadden LA25 collection.
His work has appeared in venues including the Museum of Contemporary Art (LA), Scupture Center (NY), Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LA), Art in General (NY), the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts (NY), High Desert Test Sites, and Friche la Belle de Mai (Marseille, FR).
Skuldt lives and works in a former meat-packing plant in Los Angeles, a site in the 2008 California Biennial, where he maintains a blog dedicated to the cataloguing, itemization and mapping of each piece of trash droped by his four neighbors.
He is currently attending the AIR Antwerp Residency in Belgium.
