Bruno Zhu

Jun 2018 to Jul 2018
1991 lives and works between Amsterdam and Viseu, Portugal

Bruno Zhu is invited for a residency of two months in AIR Antwerpen, as part of the bi-annual collaboration with Kunsthalle Lissabon, Portugal. Previous editions took place with artists: Luis Lazaro Matos, Carla Filipe and Pedro Barateiro.

Bruno Zhu uses his artistry in the broadest sense possible. He uses all imaginable media in the production of his installations and environments, but also doesn’t shun the side of the curator. He organizes experimental exhibition projects, a. o in the furniture and clothing store of his parents in Abraveses, Viseu, Portugal. On the other hand Bruno Zhu introduces elements from the store into the exhibition space. With this exchange of contexts Bruno Zhu creates a sense of alienation. Not only by the presentation of these objects, but also by manipulating
and concealing them. Bruno Zhu focuses on the desire that radiate from these objects and their attraction.
