Luis Lazaro Matos is invited for a residency of four months in AIR Antwerpen, as part of the bi-annual collaboration with Kunsthalle Lissabon, Portugal.

The art practice of Luis Lazaro Matos is mostly expressed through drawing, sculpture, animation, installation and performance, inherently diluting the frontiers between disciplines such as design and fina art and with a thematic focused on subjects concerning identity politics, queer theory, post-colonialism and architectural history. Lazaro Matos focusses on the influence of fiction in the process of architectural thought, with many of his drawings and fictional architectural drawings being subversions of general utopian notions of 20th century architecture. Luis works often presnets itself through architecturalc counter-proposals, reflecting his interest in drawing as a critical and satirical tool through which modernist and post-modernist utopian visions may be analyzed and reinterpreted.
