Mirte Van Duppen

Apr 2016 to Jun 2016
1990 Mirte Van Duppen lives and works in Rotterdam

Mirte van Duppen is invited for a residency of three months in AIR Antwerpen, as part of the exchange – and exhibition project Staat van de Stad/ State of the City/ Zustand der Stadt. During this residency Mirte van Duppen works on a new project which will be presented in the group exhibition at basis e.v. Frankfurt am Main, opening Thursday 13 October 2016, together with artists Ghislain Amar, Levent Kunt, Karl Philips, Ani Schulze and Stijn Van Dorpe.

In her practice Mirte van Duppen analyzes the function, interrelations and transformative powers of urban landscapes and the human interaction with them. With her intuitive and at the same time precise way of documenting, these landscapes reveal and evoke something within the viewer. Through interaction with these landscapes and their underlying (un)-written rules, functions, history, and their users, Mirte van Duppen explores the terrain between fieldwork and storytelling.

Mirte Van Duppen was invited for the following exhibitions (a selection): The Dutch Mountain, Marres Currents #3: Sightseeing, Maastricht, 2016 and Hotel Droog, Amsterdam, 2015; Relax Hardly Pillow & Measuring inequality, Design Column #9, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam, 2015; Office X, in collaboration with Manetta Berends, Staycation Museum, Berlijn, 2013; Thoughts of the chased character, Offprint Parijs, 2010.
